Remembering Lance Victorian Mourning Button Jewelry
The Victorians followed a mourning dress tradition which was simply a symbol for honoring the passing of a loved one.
Queen Victoria's mourning buttons were not the traditional cloth covered button but were made from expensive jet: a shiny, petrified wood found in bogs outside of London. Her style quickly took over the fashion industry creating a demand for affordable gem like black buttons. Parisian artist began the production of what they termed 'French Jet'.... a brilliant, abundant jet alternative....black glass.
Our Victorian Black Glass Mourning Button Jewelry is lovingly created in remembrance of our sweet Lance.
